Description: While creating milling toolpaths in the Manufacture workspace in Fusion 360, users can remove unwanted toolpath segments inside or outside a custom boundary with toolpath trimming. This feature automatically recalculates new leads, links, and ramps after the toolpath region has been removed. Did you know that toolpath trimming in Fusion 360 works on 2D operations as well? 2D Contour is one of the most commonly used toolpaths in Fusion 360. It offers a deep level of control to create the toolpath you need, but sometimes it needs one final touch, or trim, to make it perfect. As an example, the sloping face on this part demonstrates an opportunity to use the trim tool to reduce air cutting. Normally, 2D Contour would create each depth as though the tool needed to cut the full length of the part. To eliminate this air-cutting area and reduce cycle time, select the operation, select “trim” from the menu, and choose a trim type that best suits your needs. In this case, the sloped face can be used as a trim plane, but a manual boundary or sketch can be used as well. The advantage of using a plane or sketch is that the trimming can be parametric, and automatically apply the correct trimming if the feature changes. ►FREE TRIAL | autode.sk/31Sxeef ►SUBSCRIBE | autode.sk/30njGGX ►GET STARTED | autode.sk/30k2DWh CONNECT with Fusion 360 on social media: INSTAGRAM | autode.sk/2Enzh8P FACEBOOK | autode.sk/19jII5A TWITTER | autode.sk/19jIJXc LISTEN to the Fusion 360 podcast "The New Possible": BLOG | autode.sk/3qbFsFS SPOTIFY | autode.sk/3txPz9O APPLE | autode.sk/36LwBTE GOOGLE | autode.sk/2YQccbC
